The sun is out and Vancouver really is the prettiest city in the world...so why not get married???

Allot of people ask me what trends are popular with regards to wedding hair. 9 times out of 10 I find myself doing more romantic, soft, casual, wavy styles. Like the one pictured below. This look has a classic feel and won't date when your looking back at the pictures years from now. This look is soft and feminine and suitable for all dress types, faces shapes and appropriate for both formal galas and beach affairs.

Updo's are also a hot look for weddings. Having all the hair up will elongate the neck and create a more formal elegant look. The trick is for it to look softer than it is ;) This guarantee's it will stay with you all night long....from I do to....well you know how it ends! Below is a picture of a client I did this June....how glamorous is this??? seriously....PERFECTION!

DEAN'S PRODUCT PICK!!!

Every now and then I am going to pick a must have product for your daily styling ritual. Today's product is Bumble and Bumble's Surf Spray.

SURF SPRAY

Surf Spray is a must have for summertime hair! It is also known as beach in a bottle. A few sprays throughout the ends of dry hair will take fuzzy lifeless locks and transform them into piece'y gorgeous beach tousled sexiness! Surfspray is a godsend for fine volume less locks and sprayed at the roots from about 12 inches away while blow drying haphazardly simultaneously creates fullness without weight. Versatile and amazing, this product is 100% SEXY

SUMMERTIME IN THE CITY

So...as you can see I haven't been keeping my word about blogging on a regular basis...but Im gonna try, try again!

Summer is here and it's time to talk about hot summer trends that are sizzling up the streets of Vancouver and around the world....

THE BOB....

Okay, so I know this has been a strong trend for the past year or more but it continues to be such a great look for so many people...all hair types from fine and straight to thick and curly. The latest version of this classic cut is popping up in the younger set ie: Selena Gomez, Lauren Conrad (even though it`s just a wig)... The longer layered look these ladies are rockin is a fun and flirty and totally versatile!

BEACHY WAVES

Since it is summer time and we spend so much time at the beach, this look only makes sense. It is also one of my fav`s

Above are some lovely ladies sporting this sultry style....here are some tips on how to get this look...

1) Apply B&B Style Creme as well as B&B Sytle Lotion to damp hair and blowdry....volumizing products are your best friend when trying to create this look

2) If your hair has a natural wave I suggest twisting 2-3 inch sections of hair and diffuse drying...finishing with a curling iron, take random pieces and wrap the hair around the barrell of your iron

3) If your hair is straight simply take 2 inch sections around your head and wrap the hair around the barrell. For hair that tends to fall out or limp easily use a stronger hold hair spray like B&B Classic Spray.

4) Shake the hair while applying a medium hold spray such as B&B Spray du Mode and scrunch finish with Surf Spray for the ultimate beach look.

NOTE: this look should never be hard and crispy...just soft flowy and flirty. Don`t stress too much about fly aways

*Centre part Bangs....or as I like to call them....Disney Bangs!!! Grown out a bit longer than their side swept sister, these bangs are a great way to change up a look without sacrificing length on the rest of your style. Easy to do and gorgeous these bangs are fresh, flirty and fun...and hey, that's what spring is all about right?

*Side Swept Bangs......these have been around for awhile but are still as HOT as ever!!! Easy to do and a great way to add elegance and softness to your face! I'm Back

The new Chandelier.....Gorgeous!!!

I know it has been FOREVER! Not gonna lie....not the most computer savvy person in the world but have figured out this whole blogging thing!

So much has happened since the last entry (done by a friend) So lets catchup....shall we???







Well as many of you know we have had a couple of staffing changes and I am super excited to have Joanne working at Stuart Dean Salon! She is AMAZING! She ROCKS at men's cuts....hello....she styles me! Seriously though, her work is second to none in both styling and colouring men and women!! So happy to have her join the team!

Plasmastic!

It was so exciting to see the plasma mounted and connected. It took 4.5 hours to get everything wired and bolted super safe. So when you get your hair washed, you look up and voila -- 42 inches of crisp, colourful images. It's actually a large format Samsung monitor and not a TV, an interesting fact for all you geeks like me.

Thanks to Henry who guarded the box for 3 days!!

Amy Winehouse visits the salon!

Of course we're kidding! Brent just decided to take her hair and try an avant garde approach --Hair Wear -- you like???

FIERCE!!!

Brent's client, Taylor, was hosting her music artists themed birthday bash last night and she materialized as Amy Winehouse. In everyday life Taylor has blonde, shoulder length hair, but with Brent's magic she emerged with Wino hair! It is absolutely amazing!
